dust bunnies

I'm taking a break from packing. I am probably the most distracted packer ever....I'm at the point when packing up seems to make everything messier. How is it messier if I am putting things into boxes and sealing them up?

I just heard a review of The Day After Tomorrow on Fresh Air. My favorite part was when he mentioned the display of "colossal un-talent." The reviewer also reminded us that the director of this movie also directed the summer "hits" Godzilla and Independence Day. Must be good.

Speaking of movies, Cary and I saw Shrek 2 last night, which was great. There is now a character that rivals Boo in cuteness, but we decided that Boo is still unbeatable.

Time keeps ticking and I'm not any closer to being ready to leave. I doubt I'll ever really be ready.

But I am certainly ready for the L&O marathon on TNT on Monday!

strawberry fields

The pies are in the oven baking right now. Strawberries Ethan and I picked, fresh rhubarb. Yum.

Today was one of those days that went by faster than I could even realize while it was happening. I got really easily distracted while I was packing up my kitchen and folding clothes. I know I welcomed the distractions because I don't want to face the fact that I have no control of time.

Speedbump sprinted towards the house again when I called him, meowing with each step and only hesitating for a moment before crawling onto my lap with his trademark lean. Ethan went out and pet him too. Cary is right -- he's the next best thing to having a cat of our own. I mean, befriending a cat that we feed and care for.

The beautiful day today became a damp evening, one with the smell of newly wet asphalt. I prefer the smell of the fresh strawberries.

I'm really looking forward to next week. It will be so nice to get away, to celebrate with Cary, and to just have some quiet time with him. It will be great to be with Erin in Seattle for her birthday too.

The artichokes are ready! I'm going to get upstairs before Greg, Chris, and Cary finish them!

Here's to another day, more music recording, and old friends.

hoppingbird?

Have you ever watched a tiny bird hop along the sidewalk and wondered why it chooses not to fly? Have you ever slammed on your brakes just in case that cute little bird doesn't fly away?

I'm about to fly away from Portland, and I'm quite sad to be writing that. At first, it was a tough transition from years of schooling to a year of not-school preparing for many more years of schooling...but once I let myself, I really fell in love with this town. What's not to like? A great city, amazing food, the best of friends, laughter, late nights, and a whole lot of love. What more could a girl want?

Old friends surround me. I wear my flip flops even when it rains. Nine years is just around the corner. Strawberries are coming into season. The sun decided to warm us today. At Dusk sounds amazing.

I've jumped on the blogwagon. Welcome!
